Events: Halloween in UK

The one thing I never did during my Edinburgh travel was to go on ghost tours, for the only company I had with me-my cousin was super spooked simply looking at the brochures! Oh well, something remains for the next trip up north and even though I won’t be in UK until December, I came across these wonderful things you can do if you are visiting UK over days leading up to Halloween.

According to the British Airways website BAHighLife, five of the scariest destinations to visit in UK 2012 are:

London Dungeon: 29th Sept-4th Nov

Giving a whole new edge to Trick or Treat, The Trickster will be making The London Dungeon his home from 29thSeptember – 4thNovember, shocking, scaring and trick or treating visitors to London’s famously horrible, Halloween must-see attraction.

Lurking around corners and ready to startle you and your unsuspecting mates, be prepared to face The Trickster’s terrible torture or, if fortune is on your side, be pleasantly surprised by a sweet treat – all in the name of scary fun at the original Home of Halloween.

Birmingham- Gore and Grime Trails at the Black Country Living Museum: 20 October-4 November

Join the Big Brum Open Top Buz for a guided tour through the darker side of Birmingham. The tour will take you from the heart of the city in Victoria Square to the chilling catacombs in the famous Jewellery Quarter. They can promise tales of plague, public execution, hauntings and murder most foul along the way – prepare to be entertained and spooked by ghostly stories from around the city on the most haunted night of the year. Prize for the best costume on the night.

Wetherby, Yorkshire-The Halloween Adventure at Stockeld Park: 31 October-3 November

Known as the home of The Christmas Adventure (think reindeer, ice skating and grottos), this Palladian villa in Wetherby, near Leeds, is hosting a Halloween Adventure in a similar spirit — but spookier, naturally. There’s a Halloween Catwalk to judge the best costumes, the chance for little ones to grab a gift from the Wizard’s cauldron, Theatre in the Woods and a haunted walk. The very brave can even hold spiders and scorpions in a scary petting zoo.

Head over to BAHighLife for the other 2 destinations and more information.

On iVillage.com you can select the region you live in or are visiting to find out about the spookiest experiences near you. This list is really in-depth.
