Strange Landscapes: Year 2012

2012, the dreaded year came and disappeared just as quickly but in that short time, there were events around the world that gave us a glimpse into how closely interlinked, us humans and the nature are in reality. You can’t entirely blame humanity for the awkward outbursts of nature or irregular mating patterns of pigeons for that matter but we definitely need to own up for the hand we have played in creating some of these situations. These images collected by Time are astonishing, disturbing, enthralling and strange.

The sky turns a brilliant orange as smoke from the High Park Fire fills the sky near Laporte, Colorado June 10, 2012. The fire started on Saturday and was estimated at more than 14,000 acres on Sunday morning. At least 18 structures were lost or damaged due to the fire with more threatened and officials are searching for one person believed to be missing.
