This video brought tears to my eyes- tears of joy! Tommy Carroll is an inspiration for every soul that has talked itself into believing that their dream can’t be achieved or that they just don’t have it in them (physically or emotionally) to realize that dream. At the age of 2, Tommy was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma (cancer of the retina) and due to late diagnosis, he lost his sight. His eyes are prosthetic and he has no memory of being able to see but this disability hasn’t stopped Tommy from pursuing his dream of skateboarding. This brave kid has been skateboarding since the age of 10 and the beautifully shot video below (an ad for BeBraveBeSafe.com), shows you his competent skills! I think its pretty awesome that apart from skateboarding, Tommy plays the drums and is double majoring in Journalism and International Studies at Northwestern. You can read his interview here.
I love these inspirational works spoken by Tommy.
Falling is a skill you get good at, just the same as getting good at the sport itself… I think everybody should know that everything happens for a reason and that there’s always a way to overcome an obstacle if you really want it enough.
